The Blog FC is all about football. Created to provide quality, insightful and intelligent coverage and conversation of the beautiful game both in Australia and abroad, The Blog FC looks to go beyond the lazy headlines and clickbait to provide a platform for thoughtful discussion. We love it, we want to talk about it and we want you to join us. Comment, submit articles or just read; get involved and spread the word!
Editor In Chief
Beginning at The Blog FC as a contributing writer since its inception, Kark Houston was handed the reins by former owner/editor Michael Wise upon his move to greener pastures. Kark, with help from fellow editor Adam Dow, relaunched the website while assembling a core group of writers prior to the beginning of the 2014-15 football season. Since then, The Blog FC has expanded its audience and provided quality, insightful coverage on the world of football with particular focus on the A-League, English Premier League and La Liga, and formed content-sharing partnerships with Inside Spanish Football and Bundesliga Fanatic.
A journalism graduate from the University of Wollongong, Kark’s writing focuses on La Liga and the changing landscape of the Spanish top-flight – with the occasional piece on the Premier League or Australian football – while covering the league as a whole to offer a refreshing approach outside of the Barca-Real-centric coverage it often receives.
Kark is an ever-present on The Blog FC’s podcast, The Pod FC, and there is a special place in his heart for bearded deep-lying playmakers. He is also a proud member of the Goalkeepers Union and has been published on a variety of other websites including ESPN FC, Back Page Football, The Roar, Faster Louder and Kill Your Stereo. Kark is currently drafting his first book, The Unlikely Champions: The story of Atleti’s historic – and almost miraculous – 2013-14 season.
Also a confirmed homeopath.
Also a University of Wollongong journalism graduate, Senior Editor Adam Dow joined the Blog FC staff in 2014 and writes predominantly on the English Premier League while also hosting The Pod FC.
A devout (and obviously bitter) Everton supporter, Adam spends his time outside writing about football by coaching a local side and works in Surry Hills at a cocktail bar.
Though he may be considered a “Euro snob” by some (and he is), Adam also takes special interest in the lesser known Aussies plying their trade abroad.
Rounding out the trio of University of Wollongong alumni is General Editor Julian Keith, a self-proclaimed sports tragic with an irrational love of all things tactical. Most of his time is spent watching the English Premier League and the Bundesliga, where he can be found obsessing over Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund, but just about any live football will do.
When not watching the beautiful game he’s often spouting nonsense on Twitter about a number of other sports or working in the media department of a well-known Australian sports stadium.
Claims he is related to Sir Alex Ferguson.
