EPL Preview – Fulham Lookin’ Fiiiiine

Team: Fulham

Manager: Martin Jol

What’s been happening: The biggest moves at Craven Cottage this summer have not been with the playing staff, but at boardroom level. Mohammed al Fayed has stepped down after almost single-handedly dragging them from the brink of bankruptcy in the lower leagues to the Premier League. Into the breach has stepped US-based Pakistani billionaire Shahid Kahn. There is talk of Khan splashing the cash and bringing in a few high profile recruits, but so far Maarten Stekelenburg and loanee Adel Taarabt are the only noteworthy names through the door.

Oh and Dimitar Berbatov posted the above on his Facebook account a week ago. FARKEN EL!

What could go wrong: It would be easy to point the finger at Taarabt. Or argue that two enigmas in Berbatov and Taarabt can’t possibly be relied upon in the same team. But we’ll point the finger at Bryan Ruiz. At 10 million pounds, Ruiz has never really delivered on his potential or on the investment. Surely, this season has to be the one where he steps up. His career is on the line.

Ins: Adel Taarabt (Queens Park Rangers – Loan), Maarten Stekelenburg (AS Roma), Sascha Riether (FC Koln), Fernando Amorebieta (Athletic Club), Derek Boateng (Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk)

Outs: Ryan Williams (Oxford United – Loan), Richard Peniket (Tamworth FC), Mark Schwarzer (FC Chelsea), Dan Burn (Birmingham City – Loan), Simon Davies (Free), Mladen Petric (Free), Corey Gameiro (Sydney FC), Chris Baird (Free), Csaba Somogyi (Free), Alex Smith (Swindon Town), Mahamadou Diarra (Free)

The Blog FC Predicts: 11th. Mid-table anonymity again for Fulham.
